Pen and Eraser Can Draw

One evening, Pen and Eraser were playing in a paper field. Pen, wanting to play Tic Tac Toe, marked the grid in the field using its blue point. Drawing a cross in the middle Pen started the game.

It was now Eraser’s turn but he didn’t know how to draw. Still, Eraser tried to draw a circle at the top but no matter how much he tried he couldn’t.

Seeing Eraser fail, Pen made fun of him saying, “How can you not know how to draw a circle? It’s so easy. I am younger than you but know how to draw straight lines.”

Hurt by his friend’s words Eraser ran home crying.

Eraser was sitting alone in his room when Papa Eraser came home. Seeing this Papa Eraser asked him,” What happened Eraser? Why are you sitting alone in your room?”

Hugging Papa Eraser he said, “Pen made fun of me because I couldn’t draw in the paper field today.”

Understanding why Eraser was sad, Papa Eraser said, “I also can’t draw in the paper field.”

“But you are so old!” said Eraser with wide eyes.

Papa Eraser laughed and replied, “Yes, but being old has nothing to do with it.”

“But you play Tic Tac Toe with Pen’s Papa,” said Eraser. He was confused about how Papa Eraser could play when he couldn’t draw.

Smiling at this Papa Eraser replied,“ Just like I can’t draw on a paper field, Pen’s Papa can’t draw on an ink field. So when we play we simply ask the other for help.”

Papa Eraser continued, “True Friendship is helping each other. And sometimes it is teaching your friend to help others who are different from them.

The Next Day

The next day, Eraser went to Pen’s house and asked to play Tic Tac Toe with him again. Pen agreed and they went to the ink field today.

He asked Eraser to start the game. Eraser asked, “Can you please mark the grid?”

Pen agreed and tried marking the field but he couldn’t. He found his ink to be invisible on this field.

Drawing the grid, Eraser told him, “Just like you can’t draw on the ink field, I can’t draw on the paper field. We need to help each other to play together.”

Pen understood Eraser was different from him. He apologized to Eraser and asked, “Let’s agree to help each other when we play from now on?”

Eraser happily agreed and they played the whole day together.
